Perušič and Schweiner advanced to the quarterfinals without losing a set – ČT sport – Czech Television

“I’m very happy that we managed to end the match in two sets. If it went to a tie-break, we know that the Dutch are very strong and it would be very difficult,” said Perušič after the afternoon duel.

The Czechs did not lose even once in the first set in the heat and eventually won it with an eight-point difference. But the second set was significantly more balanced.

Perušič and Schweiner, in a nervous ending in which both teams protested against the referee’s verdicts, twice lost the advantage of the break and the Dutch equalized at 19:19. In the end, Perušič converted the second match point.

“The match had two diametrically different halves. In the first, Boermans in particular made a lot of unforced errors. In the second, the Dutch improved their game, started serving better and losing, and then we did not manage to keep the lead. In the end, there were also two questionable statements by the head referee, one on each side,” said Perušič.

The beach volleyball players from Prague, who, from the position of seeded number one, are striving for their fourth title from the world circuit, have already dominated the tournaments in Uberlandia and Paris this year.

They became world champions in Mexico last month and secured their place at the Olympic Games in the French capital next year.
