Perugia Makes History with Sensational Comeback Victory in the ’23 Super Cup Final

Almost three hours of entertainment make Perugia part of the history of the ’23 Super Cup, which is not destroyed by Lube’s great start and takes home the coveted trophy with a sensational comeback of 3 to 2 in the tie break. There wasn’t a moment’s respite, the five sets were fought until the end.

The sliding door of the match in the third when, leading 20 to 17, the Lube defense was put back together by a spectacular Ben Wara Tassin, in our opinion the MVP of this match with a partial of 8 to 1 which closed the third and gave new life to the hopes of the Perugia team. The fourth was very long with Lube wasting six match points and at 34 to 32 it was Perugia’s turn to put the seal on going to the fifth. At the tie break Lube started better with Zaytzev, but then, it was a monologue from Lorenzetti’s team who closed at 12 to 15 thanks to an invasion of the opponents’ net.

Once again Perugia is indigestible in Civitanova, beyond the sporting result it was a great sporting celebration. A packed forum unlike anything seen since the Biella Milano championship semi-final, correct but very warm support, a show that begins with the playing of the national anthem. A sporting celebration in which Biella provided a worthy stage ahead of it.

Below are Giuseppe Rasolo’s interviews before and after the match.
