Penaud carries the UBB, Montpellier collapses at home… All the results

This Saturday, UBB largely beat USAP (46-17) while MHR suffered a seventh consecutive defeat against Oyonnax (14-26).

For the 8th day of Top 14, Union Bordeaux-Bègles made short work of Perpignan (46-22), in a match where Damian Penaud distinguished himself with a quadruple for his third match in its new colors. At the same time, Lyon, at the end of a highly contested match, found its way to victory against Bayonne (42-29) while Montpellier, despite the recent upheaval within its staff, has a new once fell at home against Oyonnax (21-26). Stade Français, co-leader with Racing 92 and Castres, once again disappointed against the solid Section Paloise, who won an offensive bonus (30-6) in the last match of this multiplex.

UBB and Penaud play against Perpignan

The Collazo effect will wait in Montpellier. Arriving on the MHR staff this week, Patrice Collazo, Vincent Etcheto and Christian Labit experienced their first defeat at home, the seventh in a row for the club in the championship. At the end of a long close match, Oyonnax had the last word and won 26-21 with four tries scored by Ikpefan (16th), Bouraux (34th), Farrell (57th) and Salles (74th). Zegueur (4th), Capelli (31st) and captain Luke Whitelock (76th) scored the three tries of the game for the Palois, carried once again by the foot of Joe Simmonds (15 points). Without a solution, the Parisians settled for a drop and a penalty from Joris Segonds. They slip to 3rd place, behind RC Toulon and their tormentor of the evening.

Lyon tames Bayonne after a great show

The LOU was scared but provided the essentials. At the Matmut Stadium Gerland, Lyon achieved a very valuable success against Aviron Bayonnais (42-26). Thanks to the efficiency of scorer Paddy Jackson (22 points in the end including a try) and the achievements of Baptiste Couilloud (18th) and Romain Taofifenua (27th), Fabien Gengenbacher’s men led 24-3 at the start of the second half before to suffer the Basque fury. In quick succession, Bayonne went behind the line three times (Bosch 47th, Callandret 50th, Spring 53rd), suggesting a reversal of the situation. Finally, the LOU let the storm pass before adding to the score thanks to a double from Thibaut Regard (72nd, 78th). Cassiem (80th) reduced the gap on the gong for the Basques, who remain 12th in the Top 14. With this four-point victory, the LOU gives itself some air in 10th place.
