Jessica Pegula (WTA 5) is in the final of the WTA Finals for the first time in her career. In difficult weather conditions, the 29-year-old American won 6:2, 6:1 against her compatriot Coco Gauff (WTA 3), who is 10 years younger. The game in Cancun was characterized by wind and rain and had to be briefly interrupted several times.
Due to the capricious weather in the Mexican seaside resort, the second semi-final between Aryna Sabalenka (WTA 1) and Iga Swiatek (WTA 2) could not be completed. The game was interrupted after three games had been played and will not continue until Sunday. The final for the title has been postponed to Monday.

Criticism of the tournament is growing
It is not yet entirely clear when the doubles group game canceled by Pegula and Gauff will be played to an end. The two competitors in the singles are involved in the doubles together and still have a chance of reaching the semi-finals.
Poor playing conditions and the quality of the courts fueled criticism from players this week, as did the decision to hold an outdoor tournament in Cancun in the middle of the rainy season.
