Fluminense Rio de Janeiro fans are asking for support ahead of the final against Boca. Former Real star Marcelo could crown his career, but meets a former world-class striker.

When things get important for the footballers of Fluminense from Rio de Janeiro, their supporters ask two gentlemen for support: Father Omar and the Blessed Pope John Paul II. And this Saturday (9 p.m. CET, live on Sport1+) in the final of the Copa Libertadores in the legendary Maracanã in Rio de Janeiro against Argentina’s traditional club Boca Juniors from Buenos Aires will be really important. It’s about the crown of South American club football.

So they asked Pastor Omar for a service in which everyone wanted to pray together for strength for the big goal. Father Omar said yes, and so 89-year-old Fernando Horta with a walker and white hair took a seat in the front row of the nave of the parish of São José da Lagoa in the south of Rio de Janeiro. He led the fortunes of Fluminense as club president from 1975 to 1977.
