Mr. Georges Robert died peacefully on October 25, 2023 at the age of 84. He was the son of the late Henri Robert and the late Annette Lanthier of Gatineau (Hull sector, PQ). On May 19, 1962, he married his sweetheart, Louise Boutin. In addition to his wife, he leaves to mourn his three children whom he cherished dearly: Vincent (Rosa Basile of Orléans), Ivan (Natalia Goulart of Edmonton AB) and Daphné (Jim Hamilton of Sandpoint, ID, USA). U.); his grandsons Daniel, Luke, Noah and Benjamin. He was predeceased by his brothers Maurice (Claudette), Denis and Paul (Lise). Georges is also survived by his brother Marcel and his sisters Diane, Madeleine (Luc Drolet) and Lise (Gaston Plouffe) as well as several nephews, nieces and friends including GOATS (Mario Musca, Peter and Judy Foulger, Sam and Françoise Moore).
Georges had a career in the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF). Early in the 1950s, at RCAF Base Rockliffe, he saw an air show of an F3 Vampire fighter plane and decided at that time to become a pilot. After graduating from Ottawa Technical High School in 1957, he enlisted in the RCAF on October 11, 1957. Unfortunately, he was unable to meet the medical standards to become a pilot so he decided to head to Winnipeg, Manitoba , at the RCAF 2EOA School (Air Observation School). On May 12, 1959, he graduated to the rank of Radio Officer (OR) and obtained his Officer’s certificate at the rank of Flight Lieutenant. Following other successful courses in Winnipeg, Georges became an Air Navigator in January 1973.
During his career of over 35 years in the RCAF, Georges held the following positions: MP407 Squadron in Comox, BC after completing his training in the Neptune (P2V7) in PEI; VP404 and VP405 Squadron in Greenwood, NS; Radar Squadron 42 in Cold Lake, AB (a unit of NORAD Pine Tree Line SAGE site); Recruitment center in Rimouski, PQ; Base of Operations and DIAC in Greenwood, NS; Staff Officer at Maritime Air Group Headquarters in Halifax, NS and latterly, DPIS and DIE in Ottawa, ON.
Georges loved playing golf and also badminton, a sport he practiced for several years as a member of the Orléans Badminton Club. He had a great time playing cards with his friends.
We would like to thank Vincent Robert and Françoise Boutin-Moore for the support and help provided during the last months of Georges’ life.
A memorial service in the presence of the ashes will take place on Saturday, November 11 at 11:00 a.m. at Saint-Joseph d’Orléans Church located at 2757 Saint-Joseph Boulevard, Orléans, ON.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.

ROBERT, Georges – 84 of Ottawa (Orléans district) passed away peacefully on 25/Oct/2023. He was the son of the late Henri Robert and Annette Lanthier of Hull, QC. Georges married his sweetheart Louise Boutin on 19 May 1962. Besides his loving and adoring wife Louise, he leaves behind his three wonderful children Vincent (Rosa Basile) of Orléans, ON, Ivan (Natalia Goulart) of Edmonton, AB, and Daphné (Jim Hamilton) of Sandpoint, ID, USA; four Robert grandsons Daniel, Luke, Noah and Benjamin. He was predeceased by brothers Maurice (Claudette), Denis and Paul (Lise). He will be mourned and missed by his brother Marcel and his sisters Diane, Madeleine (Luc Drolet) and Lise (Gaston Plouffe). He also leaves many nephews and nieces as well as several friends including G.O.A.T.S (Mario Musca, Peter & Judy Foulger, Sam & Françoise Moore).
Georges spent his career in the RCAF. After seeing the RCAF Vampire aircraft at the Rockcliffe Air Force Base Air Show in the early 50s he decided that he wanted to become a pilot, so after graduating from High School in 1957 he enlisted in the RCAF on 11 October 1957; unfortunately, he failed the medical for pilot training but he decided to pursue training at the 2AOS(Air Observer School) in Winnipeg. He graduated from 2(AOS) as ANAV/RO and received his wings on 12 May 1959. Following training on the Neptune (P2V7) aircraft in Summerside PEI he was posted to the MP407 Demon Squadron located at the Comox, BC, Air Force Base in November 1959. Georges’ 35 year military career included postings to MP407 at RCAF Base Comox, BC, VP404 and VP405 located in CFB Greenwood, NS, 42 Radar Squadron (a unit of the NORAD Pine Tree Line SAGE site) in Cold Lake AB, recruiting centre in Rimouski, QC, Staff Officer Maritime Air Group HQ in Halifax NS, and DPIS and DIE in Ottawa, ON.
He enjoyed playing golf, cards with his dear friends and badminton. Georges was a member of the CBO (Club Badminton d’Orléans) for many years.
We wish to thank Vincent and Françoise Boutin-Moore for their extra care and efforts during the last few months.
A celebration, in the presence of the ashes, will take place on Saturday, November 11, 2023 at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph church located at 2757 boulevard Saint-Joseph Orléans.
