Although her participation in the Olympic Games is uncertain, Nina Derwael is the most central figure in a new advertising campaign by the BOIC.

“Victory. Together we’ll make history.” With a paraphrase of his 2004 hit, the Flemish singer Daan Stuyven is responsible for the official campaign song of ‘Team Belgium’ at the Olympic Games in Paris. The Belgian Olympic and Interfederal Committee (BOIC) is launching its first commercials today. Striking: the most central figure in the campaign is Nina Derwael, Olympic gymnastics champion in Tokyo, but today recovering from a shoulder injury and uncertain for Paris.
Inspire
“Nina injured herself just after recording our advertising campaign,” says Cedric Van Branteghem, CEO of BOIC. ‘We assume she will be fit for the Games. Even if that is not the case, she remains a figurehead for Belgian sport. The intention is to inspire the nation. The campaign is not just about her, but about fifteen athletes. You also see less big names such as 400 meter runner Julien Watrin, hockey player Ambre Ballenghien, judoka Jorre Verstraeten or skater Lore Bruggeman.’
Due to the proximity, the BOIC hopes that several tens of thousands of Belgians will travel to Paris next summer to cheer on Team Belgium. Many compatriots are expected along the course, especially for the marathon, road cycling and triathlon. These disciplines can be followed for free.
Belgium House
During the Games, Belgian fans can also visit the ‘Belgium House’ in the Salons Hoche, in the center of Paris. VRT and RTBf broadcast live on the roof. Inside there is a sports bar and a space to organize performances and honor medal winners. Admission is paid and costs 15 euros for a day ticket and 25 euros for an evening ticket. Anyone who wants to see the performances and medal winners must pay 85 euros. The BOIC is committed to ensuring that a nationally known artist and DJ perform every day. Tickets are on sale from Saturday.
