This 2023/2024 season of the Madrid Municipal Sports Games incorporates three new sports and a protocol against violence against minors
Municipal Sports Games They have returned to Madrid with several new things. In this 44th edition, which includes the 2023/2024 season, three new sports are incorporated: pickleballorienteering and climbing, thus reaching 33 modalities in total. Likewise, there is the creation of a Protocolwhich protects the safety of minors in the sports facilities and activities of the Madrid City Council.
This initiative aims to prevent violence against the participants of the new edition. In particular, it focuses on the protection of children and adolescents against sexual violence that may occur in the facilities.
This was confirmed a few days ago by the Councilor for Sports of the Consistory, Sonia Ceaestablishing as an objective “to continue creating safe environments where good treatment of minors prevails during the practice of sport or idleness«. In support of this cause, the City Council will carry out the campaign ‘Madrid is sport, sport is respect’.
Team events have already begun at the Madrid Municipal Sports Games
The Municipal Sports Games started last October 21 with the team testing and, later, in 2024, individual ones will be incorporated. In total, there are 33 modalities, 12 of them are team sports and 21 are individual sports:
Team up: basketball, handball, baseball, soccer, 7-a-side soccer, indoor soccer, hockey, roller hockey, water polo, volleyball, rugby and kayak polo. On October 21, they started for seniors, and on November 4, for the rest of the categories. Registration closed in October. 2,974 teams have been registered in the under-18 categories and 1,955 in the senior categories.
Individual: chess, athletics, badminton, climbing, cross country, artistic gymnastics, rhythmic gymnastics, fencing, karate, judo, swimming, artistic swimming, orienteering, canoeing, lifesaving, rowing, pickleball, tennis, table tennis and triathlon. Most start in 2024. registrations They are still open and free. They vary depending on the sport modality.

When can I register for individual sports?
Chess: Up to 10 days before the corresponding district phase (before February 20).
Athletics: Until March 6, 2024, date after which athletes will no longer be able to register.
Badminton: For collective registration it will be until January 12, 2024. For individual participation and only for athlete registration it will open later: Until January 22, 2024, for the Madrid Team Final. Until February 5, 2024, for the Madrid Singles and Doubles Final and inclusive Badminton.
Fencing: From April 1 to 28, 2024
Rhythmic gymnastics: From December 4, 2023 to January 26, 2024.
Judo: 10 days before the competition (includes the Prebenjamín, Benjamín, Alevín, Infantil and Cadet categories).
Karate: Until January 9, 2024. All participants must register through their club in the Madrid Karate Federation.
Lucha: From November 13 to January 17, 2023 for the competition on January 27, 2024. Until May 9, 2024 for the competition on May 18, 2024.
Swimming: Until February 2, 2024, fifteen business days in advance of the date of celebration of the corresponding event.
Lifesaving: Until March 23, 2024.
Tennis: For schools, until January 12, 2024. Free, from January 16 to 23, 2024.
Table tennis: Until one week before the start of your Internal Phase. Participants in the Madrid Final must be registered before April 27, 2024.
