Nevers crushes Brive with the offensive bonus

A week after their defeat (10-16) at home against Soyaux-Angoulême and four days after their coach Patrice Collazo was fired from his position as manager, it is an understatement to say that the Brivistes were not attacking this trip to Nevers in the best of climates. Especially on the pitch of the 4th in Pro D2, who had achieved a 5/5 at home since the start of the season.

This feeling was quickly confirmed on the ground. After just seven minutes, Hugues Bastide dived into the Brive goal to put Nevers in the lead. Twenty minutes later, the locals accelerated on a maul, which, collapsed by the Brivistes, was rewarded with a penalty try in addition to a yellow card (12-6, 32nd). At the very end of the first period, the Corréziens believed they could get back into the game by occupying the opposing goal line for many minutes, without managing to score. But on a poorly assured back pass, they suffered a murderous counter attack from a hundred meters, concluded by Shaun Reynolds. Enough to bring Nevers’ lead to 13 points (19-6) at the break.

Things did not improve for Brive in the second half, Nevers leaving with big intentions and scoring a try in the 42nd minute by U20 world champion Arthur Mathiron, at the conclusion of a clear start to the game. Twenty minutes later, the Bleuet went to score a double after a return to the closed (36-6, 62nd). The Mass was said and the reduction of the gap between Tevita Ratuva and Mathis Ferté at the end of the match was not enough for the Corréziens to bring something back from this trip.

With this improved success, Nevers climbs to 4th place in the ranking (31 points), neck and neck with Mont-de-Marsan (2nd, 32 points) and Aix-en-Provence (3rd, 31 points). For its part, Brive continues to worry before the planned arrival of Pierre-Henry Broncan on the bench, getting bogged down in 11th place.
