NEC may have a broader selection for the home match against FC Volendam. Bram Nuytinck, Sontje Hansen, Koki Ogawa and Youri Baas resumed training on Friday.
Nuytinck, Hansen (both ill), Ogawa and Baas (both injured) were missing from the cup match against Roda JC on Thursday (5-3 win), but may be back on Sunday against FC Volendam. The technical staff will determine on Saturday after the final training whether they are fit enough.
If that is the case, Nuytinck, who, like Ogawa, was also absent against AZ, and Hansen will probably have a starting place against FC Volendam. This is at the expense of Sai van Wermeskerken and Lars Olden Larsen. Calvin Verdonk moves back to the left back position upon Nuytinck’s return.
Rober Gonzalez, who scored twice against Roda JC as an occasional striker, is normally again at the point of attack. Elayis Tavsan, who was substituted halfway through as a precaution after long-term injuries against Roda JC, keeps his place in the right front. Dirk Proper, who left the side against Roda JC due to a sore hamstring, is available.
Cillessen
Jasper Cillessen can play goal again, after Robin Roefs was given preference in the KNVB Cup as agreed in advance. That other veteran, Lasse Schöne, will probably appear at kick-off again, which means that Mees Hoedemakers, who made a surprising start against AZ, will have to settle for a place on the bench, just like against Roda JC.
NEC is in any case missing Bas Dost, who collapsed against AZ due to an inflamed heart muscle and is temporarily distancing himself from football, Philippe Sandler (out of action for a few weeks due to a knee injury) and Brayann Pereira (only back after the winter break due to a shoulder injury).
NEC-FC Volendam starts on Sunday at 2:30 PM in De Goffert and is led by referee Jochem Kamphuis.
