NBA Players Union Names Andre Iguodala Acting Executive Director

After less than two years on the job, Tamika Tremaglio has resigned from her position as executive director of the NBA Players Union. The organization will therefore have to start a process to find a replacement, but in order not to leave a gap in the organization, Andre Iguodala has been named acting executive director.

Tremaglio has been one of the key players in the negotiations of the new collective agreement signed in April, but apparently shortly after said agreement he began to consider his possible departure. Now, the union will begin a selection process to choose the new permanent position, a process of which we will see if Iguodala, who has been part of the board of directors since 2015, is a part.

“Having a former player as CEO is an interesting proposition,” said CJ McCollum, president of the union, who seems to like the idea of having Iggy in the position. “We want to thank Tamika for her service and leadership during the collective bargaining agreement negotiations, and we are now excited to welcome Andre as acting director.”

Iguodala has recently announced his retirement from the NBA after 19 seasons, but with this position he would remain linked to the league and would continue to be an important part of the organization.
