NBA Cup First Phase Concludes: Teams Prepare for Direct Elimination Matches

The first phase of the NBA Cup has ended: after a month of challenges (and seven rounds during which the regular season matches were also valid for the In-Season Tournament) the scoreboard of the eight teams has been completed which on the 4th and on December 5th they will compete in direct elimination matches for a place at the Final Four in Las Vegas.

The qualified teams are Indiana Pacers, Milwaukee Bucks, Boston Celtics, Los Angeles Lakers, New Orleans Pelicans, Sacramento Kings, New York Knicks and Phoenix Suns, with the quarterfinal pairings defined as follows: Bucks-Knicks, Pacers-Celtics, Lakers-Phoenix and Kings-Pelicans.

Meanwhile, in the night’s games, Milwaukee celebrates in Miami, beating the Heat 131-124: a challenge decided by Antetokounmpo and Lillard, both above 30 points. And first place in Group B of the East for the Bucks.

Cleveland also achieved success, beating Atlanta 128-105 thanks to Mitchell’s super game. The New York Knicks prevailed 115-91 over the Hornets and earned a pass to the quarterfinals of the NBA Cup. The Brooklyn Nets also won (115-103 over the Toronto Rapters): the 18-7 run in the final was decisive for the Raptors comes the 8th knockout in the last 10 matches.

The Boston Celtics are smiling, defeating the Chicago Bulls 124-97 and gaining a place among the 8 for the direct elimination phase of the new cup. A quintet in double figures (with 30 from Jaylen Brown and 21 from Jayson Tatum, but above all 21 triples scored) leave no escape for Chicago, who are not enough with 19 points from DeRozan and White. Minnesota wins 106-103 over Oklahoma City, remains at the top of the Western Conference and reaches the quarterfinals of the Cup. Success for Dallas beating the Houston Rockets 121-115: Kyrie Irving also dragged the Mavericks along with the usual Doncic. The Sacramento Kings are celebrating as they win 124-123 at the home of the Golden State Warriors: everything is decided in the final, with two turnovers by Curry and Green for the Warriors, and 5 points in a row by Malik Monk.
