This year the league introduced the long-awaited In-Season Tournament, or NBA Cup, which involves all 30 teams and which begins with the first games on November 3rd. The tournament will end on December 9th at the end of a Final Four to be played in Las Vegas.
NBA Basketball Predictions In Season Tournament: the format
L’In Season Tournament is new for this 2023-24 NBA Basketball season, and starts on Friday 3 November. This is a tournament whose games will still be valid for the purposes of the NBA ranking (except the final), and will be divided into two phases. The first is the group one in which all thirty NBA teams will participate, divided into six groups of five, without mixing the two conferences.
Each team will play each of their opponents for a total of four games, two at home and two away. Here are the six groups that were drawn based on the records of the 2022-23 season, dividing the 15 franchises of each conference into five different groups, to have the most balanced groups possible.
The tournament will take place throughout the month of November starting from November 3rd with the first matches valid for the groups, for a total of seven “Tournament Nights” to be played every Tuesday and Friday (therefore they will also be played on 10, 14, 17, 21, 24 and 28 November, the only exception being the 7th for Election Day). The top six qualified teams from each group and the two best runners-up (one from each conference) will advance to the knockout stage, with the quarter-finals to be played at the home of the two teams with the best records in the group stage (the team with the best overall record will play against the best runner-up) and then the Final Four on a neutral pitch in Las Vegas.
