A lover of projects that are cooked over a slow fire, in the intimacy of the heart, as well as their meticulous recording, the Mexican singer Natalia Lafourcade announced that she will begin work on a book in which she will review 30 years of her musical career. She made it known during the presentation of her first editorial publication, her book-songbook Of all the flowers, during the Guadalajara International Book Fair 2023.

“Seven years before he turns 30 years of musical career –he debuted in 2000-, we are going to begin a process of memories and anecdotes. Imagine everything that lies ahead, I love to see my musical career as a field of flowers and I like to say that you (the public) are my field of flowers too,” said the composer of Hasta la Root.
Book and life companion
Despite the fact that one night before she performed at the Telmex Auditorium, Natalia Lafourcade met her audience again, along with her husband and visual artist Juan Pablo López-Fonseca and the editor María Marín de Buen, to narrate the way in which This book was created that portrays the creation process of the performer and composer’s most recent album.
“This is a songbook that reveals the chords of some songs, this book becomes a life companion. The images are inspiring, the images are inspiring, there are black and white pages, there are color pages, pages that only have scratches and are not very well understood, but in which everything is part of my personal process to remake a completely unreleased album,” read Natalia Lafourcade, from a document she wrote before the book and that served as her manifesto.

It is a book, in bilingual format, with more than 100 photographs, both intimate and of the recording process, unpublished texts by Natalia herself and the writer Elvira Liceaga; archive images of sketches and corrections and song lyrics.
“This book has allowed me, personally, to stop getting involved in processes and dare to do other projects. There is already a whole map with things that are behind it, and there is no longer any need to show it. But I think it was a process, as an artist and creator, to find that place in which one settles and says this remains,” declared the public.
Both Juan Pablo and María Marín agreed that the making of this book was a long selection process due to the large number of documents, in different media, that Natalia kept; which they tried to organize in the same way that the singer-songwriter creates her songs, from the abstract and poetic, to the concrete and bonding with other musicians.
Don’t stop dreaming
The presentation of the book was interrupted by a child, named Héctor Emiliano, who asked Natalia for the opportunity to interview her at that precise moment, to which the singer accepted. He, after telling everyone present not to stop dreaming and believing in her dreams, such as being able to be close to her idol, asked her about how the singer got started in music.

When asked, Natalia said that she owed everything to her parents who are musicians and music teachers and that is why since she was a child she found herself close to music. After an exchange of hugs and receiving countless gifts, Natalia withdrew and once again reminded her fans that, like Héctor Emiliano, they should never stop dreaming.
