MotoGP, Jorge Martin: “I want to win here in Malaysia to redeem myself after the crash in 2022”

We are at the third to last round of the 2023 MotoGP World Championship. On the Sepang track in Malaysia, the duelists for the world title are ready to battle. Francesco Bagnaia arrives at the appointment with a 13 length margin against Jorge Martin. An advantage that is certainly not reassuring for Pecco, who will have to try to stop his opponent’s progress.

The Spaniard, in a press conference, described his approach: “After Thailand I was very happy, I had experienced a fantastic weekend. I decided to stay in Asia so as not to suffer from jet lag again. This week I had too much time to think, I prefer to run races consecutively. Let’s see how it goes here“, the words of the Iberian.

A thought also went to the epilogue of last season, when Martin crashed in a race he could have won: “I miss last year’s victory, I could have recovered and then I crashed. New asphalt could be a good thing. We’ll see my strategy in the race“, underlined the pilot of the Ducati Pramacalso in relation to the interventions made on the Sepang asphalt.

A reflection on managing psychological pressure: “The stakes are very high, but when you run you are paradoxically more relaxed and think about the race“. To complete this, Martin also commented on the possibility of an official commitment alongside Bagnaia: “If Ducati wants me to join the team with the official bike I will be more than happy, but otherwise he will be proud to continue with Pramac“.
