Mercedes will remain a McLaren partner until 2030

Mercedes will continue to supply the British Formula 1 racing team McLaren with drive units up to and including 2030. The two companies announced the extension of the collaboration on Friday on the sidelines of the last GP of the year on Sunday (2 p.m. CET, live on ORF1) in Abu Dhabi.

McLaren ran with Mercedes engines from 1994 to 2014. The team has been a partner of the German car manufacturer again since 2021. “McLaren has been a tough but fair opponent since 2021, especially in the second half of this season,” said Mercedes Motorsport Director Toto Wolff.

“McLaren’s strong performances underline how important it is to provide transparent and equal supply to all customer teams in this sport if we want to achieve the goal of ten teams that can fight for podium places,” added the 51-year-old Viennese.

From 2026, a major rule reform will come into force in the premier motorsport class that affects drive units. Half of the power will then be generated from electronic energy, and the vehicle will also run on 100% sustainable fuel.
