The Polish goalkeeper earns EUR 12 million per season at Juventus, and only his club colleague Dusan Vlahović, who earns EUR 13 million, can count on more money. This makes Szczęsny’s contract a bit of a problem for Juventus, which is why there were reports in the summer of the possible sale of the 33-year-old. However, in Turin they thought about how to approach the issue of Szczęsny’s contract. Juventus has recently been working on extending the contracts of many of its players – Federico Gatti, Manuel Locatelli and Nicolò Fagioli have signed contracts until June 2028. Such long contracts are, on the one hand, a guarantee that these players will stay for years, and on the other, an opportunity to spread their remuneration over the years.
And this is precisely the goal of the club, which wants to extend the contracts of Wojciech Szczêsny, Dusan Vlahovic, Gleison Bremer, Adrien Rabiot, Federico Chiesa and Daniele Rugani in the near future.
“By Christmas, Juventus wants to end the extension of contracts with its defensive players. Talks with Szczęsny and Bremer have started, but they have not been completed yet. Optimism about Rugani is growing,” La Gazzetta dello Sport reported. This means that Juventus may announce a new contract for the Polish goalkeeper before the end of the year. Otherwise, we can expect a possible attempt to sell him during the summer transfer window in 2024.
This season, Wojciech Szczęsny played 10 matches for Juventus, in which he kept seven clean sheets and scored six goals. On Sunday at 8:45 p.m., second-placed Juventus will play away against Inter Milan, which leads the Serie A table.
