Mario Balotelli Escapes Serious Injury in Audi Q8 Crash in Italy

Balotelli, who now plays for Demirspor in Turkey, is recovering from an injury in his native Brescia. On Thursday night, he lost control of his Audi Q8 and crashed into a wall. All that was left of the car for 100 thousand pounds (almost 3 million crowns) was a pile of sheet metal.

The player managed to get out of the car before the paramedics arrived. They gave first aid to the shaken Balotelli, who was lying on the ground. However, transport to the hospital was not required, the attacker escaped without serious injury.

He was eventually driven home by his brother Enock Barwuah who was returning from training with his local club. “Mario is fine,” Italian media quoted Barwuah as saying.

The Turkish club, for which the former Italian international has been playing since the summer, reacted to the incident on social networks. “Mario Balotelli was involved in a traffic accident in his country, Italy, on Thursday evening. We would like to inform you that our player is healthy, resting at home and has no problems,” Demirspor said in a statement.

Balotelli’s career, during which he went through Manchester City, Liverpool or AC Milan, was marked by a number of antics on and off the field, including traffic accidents.

For example, a few days after arriving at Manchester City in 2010, he crashed his Audi R8 on his way to the club’s training ground. It was found that he had 5 thousand pounds (150 thousand crowns) in cash with him at the time of the accident. When police asked him why, he allegedly replied, “Because I’m rich.”
