Manchester United’s Champions League Woes Continue: Another Disappointing Result Against Galatasaray

Manchester United continues to falter in the Champions League. In the witch’s cauldron of Galatasaray, it still gave up a seemingly certain victory. The big anti-hero was (again) goalkeeper André Onana, who certainly did not go free with the second goal.

What a terrible course Manchester United is on.

There was already a bad downfall in Copenhagen three weeks ago, earlier the home loss against Galatasaray and in between an (expected) defeat against Bayern Munich.

When they visited Galatasaray, they had better win. Spoiler: that didn’t happen again, despite a great start by the English record champion.

Garnacho and Fernandes provided a double lead after more than fifteen minutes. Ziyech found the tying goal around the half hour mark, but after McTominay’s 1-3 in minute 55 everything seemed decided.

Not so.

Especially because goalkeeper André Onana – not without mention before tonight – fumbled at 2-3. The Cameroonian dramatically processed Ziyech’s free kick.

Onana also didn’t look great with the Moroccan’s first free kick. And to make matters worse, he also let himself be floored in his short corner at the 3-3.

The painful balance: no fewer than 14 goals conceded after 5 matchdays in this campaign – a record low for an English club.

Goodbye a crucial three-pointer, hello the plight going into the final matchday. Last in the standings, United will be forced to perform against Bayern.
