Lustenauer Austria Suffer 4-0 Defeat Against SKN St. Pölten: Extending Their Negative Series

The Bundesliga bottom team clearly lost 4-0 to SKN St. Pölten, was eliminated from the cup competition and extended the negative series.

In the Bundesliga, Lustenauer Austria is still waiting for its first win of the season; in the cup competition, the Mader team had a chance of reaching the cup quarter-finals on All Saints’ Day away to SKN St. Pölten. In the end, Gmeiner & Co left the pitch again with their heads hanging.

Efficient hosts

The Stickers tried to take control in the Lower Austrian capital, while the hosts resorted to counterattacking. St. Pölten took the lead through Barlov (19th), and the Lustenauers’ insecurity became apparent across the board. Monzialo made it 2-0 six minutes later, Helac in the Sticker goal was defeated for the second time.

While St. Pölten remained incredibly efficient and Barlov increased the lead to 3-0 before the break with his second goal of the evening, the guests struggled with how they were evaluating their chances. Once the bar prevented a goal from being scored (29th), and in the 34th minute Frederiksen missed a shot.

Symbolically, things should continue after the break, ten minutes after the restart Grujcic maneuvered the ball into his own net after a Stangl pass – 0:4. After that the air was out of this game, the negative final point from the Lustenau team’s point of view was a missed penalty by Cisse (84th).

In the end it remained 4-0 for the “Wolves” from the Lower Austrian capital, meaning the Mader team extended their current negative run. The Lustenauer team continues in the Bundesliga on Saturday in Vienna against Austria.
