Romelu Lukaku has claimed a leading role in AS Roma’s 2-1 win against Lecce. The Belgian striker missed a penalty, but scored the winning goal deep into extra time. In La Liga, Real Madrid drew 0-0 against Rayo Vallecano.
The match between AS Roma and Lecce started stormily. After just five minutes the ball hit the spot, but Lukaku’s bet was saved. AS Roma fell behind in the 71st minute due to a goal by Pontus Almqvist.
Coach José Mourinho’s team kept pushing, with results. Sardar Azmoun headed Roma level in the first minute of injury time. Moments later, Lukaku made up for his missed penalty with a shot in the intersection.
Juventus recorded a simple 0-1 win against Fiorentina thanks to an early goal from Fabio Miretti. Dutchman Dean Huijsen, who made his Juventus debut two weeks ago, remained on the bench.
