Luis Enrique’s Tactical Decisions: Vitinha Over Kang-In Lee and Kolo Muani’s Preference

Luis Enrique chose to leave Kang-In Lee on the bench this Tuesday for the kick-off of the match between Paris Saint-Germain and AC Milan at San Siro. The Portuguese Vitinha is preferred to the South Korean for this crucial duel with a view to qualification despite his recent remarkable performances with the Ile-de-France team. For the rest, the technician did the classic thing.

PSG has indeed moved into the Champions League configuration. If Luis Enrique regularly plays with four players with a very offensive profile in Ligue 1, the technician chose to rely on a three-man midfielder this Tuesday for the European trip to San Siro. As expected, Vitinha is preferred to Kang-In Lee at the start of this duel against AC Milan.

Scorer after his entry into play in the first leg (3-0), the South Korean nevertheless remains in several great performances with the Ile-de-France club. But for this trip to Italy, Luis Enrique preferred to leave three midfielders to win the battle in the midfield. Manuel Ugarte and Warren Zaire-Emery will accompany Vitinha in the trio.

The PSG eleven: Donnarumma – Hakimi, Skriniar, Marquinhos, Lucas Hernandez – Zaire-Emery, Ugarte, Vitinha – Dembele, Kolo Muani, Mbappe.

AC Milan’s eleven: Maignan – Calabria, Thiaw, Tomori, Theo Hernandez – Loftus-Cheek, Musah, Reijnders – Pulisic, Giroud, Leao.

Kolo Muani preferred to Ramos

Besides his three-way midfielder, Luis Enrique did not revolutionize his team for the continental meeting in Milan. Up front, Randal Kolo Muani was again preferred to Gonçalo Ramos in the number 9 position to accompany Kylian Mbappé and Ousmane Dembélé.

No surprise either in defense where, despite the stormy reception from the Rossoneri supporters, Gianluigi Donnarumma will be in the PSG goals.

In front of the goalkeeper, the hinge composed of Milan Skriniar and Marquinhos will have to prevent Olivier Giroud from showing off too much while the corridors will be occupied by Lucas Hernandez and Achraf Hakimi.

With this team, Luis Enrique hopes to get a good result which would bring PSG closer to qualifying for the knockout stages of the Champions League. A big collective performance this Tuesday would also allow us to forget (a little) the first chaotic trip to Newcastle (4-1) this season.
