As is known, ahead of the Malaysian MotoGP on 10-12 November 2023, Bagnaia, who plays for the Ducati Lenovo Team, leads the standings with 389 points, 13 points ahead of Jorge Martin from Prima Pramac Racing. They also got resistance from Marini’s tandem, Marco Bezzecchi.

Considering that the three of them are both Ducati riders, team order difficult to implement. However, Marini does not deny that Bagnaia and Martin have a bigger chance of winning than ‘Bez’. Marini also admitted that he wanted to help Bagnaia, but there were conditions, namely that he was still allowed to achieve the best results possible.

“Yes, and this is something that has happened before when he fought for the Moto2 title, as well as last year. However, the best way to help a rider is to win the race or get on the podium,” said Marini to AS Diary on Saturday (28/10/2023).

‘Maro’ also recalled team order which he received from Sky Racing VR46 when Bagnaia fought for the Moto2 title in 2018. In the race in Thailand, Bagnaia was chasing victory but was threatened by Miguel Oliveira. Marini also helped him by trying hard to overtake Oliveira.

“That’s like what I did in Thailand, when I overtook Miguel Oliveira. I finished second and he third, which gave Pecco an additional four points. That was the perfect idea and that was the strategy,” said the 26 year old rider.

Marini also emphasized this team order That doesn’t mean he doesn’t have the right to fight for victory. The 2020 Moto2 runner up stated that he would still try to beat Bagnaia if he had the opportunity in the last three series.

“Of course I will beat Pecco if he is within striking distance, and this is something Pecco knows very well. If I can, then I will beat him,” concluded Marini.

Marini himself is currently ranked eighth in the drivers’ standings with a collection of 164 points. So far, he has been on the Sprint podium three times and once on the Grand Prix podium.
