Arizona State (#18) went 1-3 against Washington State (#11) and 3-0 against Arizona, the weakest team in the powerful Pac-12 Conference, in its last two games of the regular season. In these games, the Latvian collected 21 and 13 points, respectively.
Lewinska’s team (26-6) finished the regular season as the third best Pac-12 team behind Stanford (26-3) and Oregon (26-5). Five of the six teams from this powerful conference usually make the NCAA playoffs. Washington State (24-7), USC (18-12) and maybe UCLA (18-12) are also expected to earn an invitation. The playoff teams will be determined tonight.
Arizona State was nowhere near the playoffs in the previous three seasons (6-14, 14-17 and 13-19, respectively). During the off-season, the current head coach and three very important volleyball players left the team (lifter, libero and the attack leader of Levinska’s first three seasons), but a more valuable libero player came. This season, however, the team already played at a much higher level.
Senior Martha Lewinsky was Arizona State’s leading scorer for the second straight season. The fourth year is usually the last for NCAA volleyball. There is an opportunity to apply for the fifth year, but the Latvian has not used this opportunity at the moment.

Ekaterina Stepanova has been the most successful Latvian volleyball player in NCAA volleyball so far. In 2011, in Tallahassee, represented by her, “Florida State” (#21) surprisingly entered the NCAA “Final Four”, besides, our volleyball player was included in the second symbolic selection of the “All-American” of that year.
We remind you that Marta was recognized as the best volleyball player in Latvia for four years in a row, but Levinska’s reign ended last year.
