Leones defeated the Tigres and tied the lead

With a torrid offensive of 13 hits, led by a perfect Aldrem Corredor (3-3), Leones del Caracas beat the Tigres de Aragua 7-5, this Monday in Maracay, and took the lead.

Leones woke up starter José Martínez early and took the lead with three runs in the first inning after singles by José Rondón, Aldrem Corredor and Isaias Tejeda.

The Tigers managed to equalize in the third inning after a bases-loaded pitch to Johan López, a walk to José “Cafecito” Martínez and a sacrifice fly by Rafael Marchan.

However, the reaction of the long-haired men was immediate, at the top of the room. With a single by Gabriel Noriega, a walk to César Hernández and a sacrifice by Rondón they made the score 6-3.

Aragua insisted and scored two in the sixth product of a double by Yorman Rodríguez and a sacrifice fly by Manuel Melendez. But before they could tie again, Leones scored the seventh and decisive goal with a hit by Jhonny Pereda.

From there the relief was the protagonist. Miguel Rodríguez (0.2) and José Mujica (1.0) combined to get – without major setbacks – the last five outs of the game and thus preserve the capital’s victory.

The victory went to Norwith Gudiño (1-0), who completed a relief of a scoreless inning, in which he received no hits and issued a walk. For his part, José Martínez (0-1) suffered the setback by allowing five runs in 3.0 innings.
