Czech curlers are fighting at the European Championship to stay in the elite division and at the same time for the hope of advancing to the World Championship, where they could fight for points in the Olympic qualification.
Before the last two matches, they have only one win on their account. In the evening duel, they lost to Turkey and are last behind him. The Czechs will face the Danish team on Wednesday and the German team on Thursday. In order to reach the coveted seventh place, they would ideally need to win both games.
In the first match on Tuesday, skipper Kubešková’s team kept pace with the Italian women for a long time. Even though the favorites scored three times in the fifth end, the slightly losing Czechs still had hopes of a turnaround.
But the seventh part of the match came and in it the opponents from the south of Europe using yellow stones definitively broke the fight on their side. The Italian curlers scored five points and forced the Czech representatives to concede an early defeat 3:10.
