Keita cancels Guinea – Sport

Werder Bremen’s top transfer Naby Keita will not travel to the national football team of his home country Guinea during the two-week international break, but will instead work on his Bundesliga comeback in Bremen. His club announced this on Monday. The 28-year-old new signing from Liverpool FC injured his thigh in the 2-3 defeat against 1899 Hoffenheim at the beginning of October and has not been available to the club since then.

From Bremen’s point of view, this international match cancellation was “beneficial,” said Werder coach Ole Werner. “We hope that Naby can use the break to his advantage.” Bremen’s goal is to be able to use their most prominent player again in the home game against league leaders Bayer Leverkusen on November 25th. He will be missing from the Guinea national team in the World Cup qualifiers against Uganda and Botswana in the coming days.
