On the 10th, the Kamiina Agricultural High School (Minamiminowa Village) baseball team visited three nursery schools in the village: Western, Northern, and Minamibara, and held exchange activities. The children were given the opportunity to experience the fun of baseball by teaching them how to bat. Through their teaching positions, the club members were able to return to their basics by watching the enthusiastic kindergarteners.

This was their first time interacting with a nursery school, and the club members consulted with the nursery school to plan their roles and the content of their interaction in advance. The 20 club members and managers were divided into different schools and participated in the exchange.

Six people visited Seibu Nursery School. After deepening their interaction through radio calisthenics, rhythm exercises, and a game of tag, the children were given a chance to try toss batting. Kindergarteners had a member of the club toss a sponge ball and then swung a plastic bat as hard as they could. They were also taught how to prepare for batting, and when they successfully hit back, they cheered with joy.

The children lost track of time and were immersed in the game, smiling and saying, “I sometimes play baseball with my dad and older brother, but today I had fun learning how to play baseball,” and “It was my first time, but I want to try it again.”

Pitcher and captain Fumishun Nakamura tried to get people to know baseball by learning the joy of the moment of hitting a ball. Seeing the smiles on the children’s faces, he said, “I learned once again how to enjoy baseball and give it my all.”

Coach Naoki Mimura (27) hopes that by getting people familiar with baseball from a young age, it will lead to an increase in the number of players, but says, “Although (daily practice etc.) may be difficult, through this kind of interaction, I am able to encourage the members of the club. I hope people will remember the true joy of baseball that they had almost forgotten,” he said, feeling a positive response.
