Junko wins the Bavarian Grand Prix – Sport

Junko won the Bavarian Grand Prix at the Riem racecourse. For the second Group 1 race of the season in Munich, instead of only five horses registered, only four actually ran – the British co-favorite Rebel’s Romance had withdrawn on Saturday morning for health reasons. So there were fewer participants than there were prize money places, and the race became a clear affair for the stallion Junko from the French star trainer André Fabre, who ran in with the German champion Bauyrzhan Murzabayev in the saddle three lengths ahead ofassist and India. A few thousand spectators watched the end of the career of the best German mare – India will be sent into breeding after this third place.
