As already suspected, national coach Julian Nagelsmann nominated RB keeper Janis Blaswich and Werder striker Marvin Ducksch for the first time. Kevin Behrens, who celebrated his DFB debut on the trip to the USA, and David Raum were not taken into account this time. That’s why Serge Gnabry is back.

The pay TV channel is already reporting Sky about a real surprise. Accordingly, the national coach will nominate RB keeper Janis Blaswich for the first time. The 32-year-old has played 15 competitive games for Leipzig so far this season and could now be called up for the German national team for the first time due to his good performances.

Julian Nagelsmann once again nominates debutants for the DFB team
Nagelsmann will name the DFB team for the games on November 18th in Berlin against Turkey and on November 21st in Vienna against the Austrian national team, which will also be the last international matches of 2023. In his first nomination, he caused a surprise three times with Chris Führich, Kevin Behrens and Robert Andrich, and Führich and Behrens then made their DFB debut straight away.
In addition, Mats Hummels returned from Borussia Dortmund back into the DFB team. He no longer played a role during Hansi Flick’s time in office.

Nagelsmann nominates DFB team: What will happen to Manuel Neuer?
However, it is less the possible debutants that are currently being discussed around the DFB team, but rather the question: What will become of Manue Neuer? The number one of FC Bayern returned to the goal of the German record champions a few weeks ago – 320 days after his last appearance. In December 2022, he suffered a complicated fracture of his lower leg on a private ski trip and had to fight his way back to the field for almost a year.
In Neuer’s absence, Barcelona keeper Marc-André ter Stegen did well in the DFB team’s goal and has already registered claims for the 2024 European Championship in his own country.

Neuer was not part of the DFB team in November
Neuer has already confirmed that Nagelsmann will not nominate him for the two international matches in November. He hasn’t had enough time to prove himself so far, but in the coming weeks and months he apparently wants to make it as difficult as possible for the new national coach to get past him. Neuer has already lost his armband. Nagelsmann confirmed that Ilkay Gündogan should also lead the DFB team as captain at the 2024 European Championship.
In addition to the Neuer personnel, Nico Schlotterbeck should also be exciting. He has only played a minor role in the DFB team, while he is a regular at Borussia Dortmund – where he made one or two mistakes.
