World champion Julián Álvarez scored the winning goal in Manchester City’s comeback against Leipzig, 3 to 2.

The victory allowed City to secure first position in zone G.

Manchester City, current champions, completed the comeback with Julián Álvarez’s goal for the entertaining 3-2 against Leipzig at the Etihad Stadium.

The German team won with the double of the Belgian Lois Openda (PT 13 and 33m), but Josep Guardiola’s team turned it around through the Norwegian Erling Haaland (ST 9m), the English Phil Foden (ST 25m) and Álvarez (ST 43m).

The former River Plate player, who participated in the play prior to Haaland’s goal, entered 8 minutes into the second half and took advantage of Foden’s back pass, after the rebound from German Lukas Klostermann, to signal the 3-2 score.

The defending champion reached 15 points and won group G with one day left before the end of the regular phase.

In Group H, Barcelona achieved a 2-1 victory against Porto, which qualified it to the round of 16. The Portuguese Joao Cancelo (PT 32m) and Joao Félix (ST 12m) scored for the Catalan team, while the Brazilian Pepé (PT 30m) opened the scoring for Porto, which had former Boca Juniors midfielder Alan Varela as the starter.
