Judo Coaches and Referees Train in Mauritania with Support from International Judo Federation

More than thirty judo coaches and referees take part, from November 25 to 27, in a refresher session organized by the Mauritanian Judo Federation, with the joint support of the Mauritanian National Olympic and Sports Committee (CNOSM). ) and the International Judo Federation.
This session aims to train coaches and referees in modern technical rules and to strengthen their abilities at a practical level.
The president of the Mauritanian Judo Federation, Mr. Salem Abeïdna, affirmed during the opening that this session is part of the strategic framework of the roadmap drawn up by his association aimed at developing judo in Mauritania. After searching for equipment and infrastructure, the federation set about, according to its president, the training of coaches and referees before the upcoming organization of competitions. Mr. Salem Abeïdna mentioned the support in sports equipment (kimonos, tatamis) from the International Judo Federation which is committed, he said, to building a headquarters for the benefit of his association. To continue its action aimed at developing judo in Mauritania, the federation will target school and university environments through specific programs. But also, adds its president, continue to support practitioners and technicians. Mr. Salem Abeïdna thanked in turn the Ministry in charge of Youth and Sports for ”its constant support”, the CNOSM and the international federation for their constantly renewed support. For her part, Ms. Mariam Talla Kane, third vice-president of the CNOSM, said she was honored by the strong female presence at this seminar. She praised the action undertaken by the federation under the leadership of its president who has “breathed new life into this sport. Ms. Kane reaffirmed the CNOSM’s desire to support all sports practiced in Mauritania.
As for the Japanese ambassador to Mauritania, Mr. Uchida, he said he was happy to see the momentum gained in the practice and promotion of Judo in Mauritania as well as the exchanges established with the international federation. Wishing the seminarians every success, the Japanese diplomat expressed the availability of his representation to support the Mauritanian Judo Federation in its action to develop the discipline.
The representative of the International Judo Federation considered that “judo is a school of life. It’s not just a sport. It magnified the participants’ strong desire to learn and the strong female presence at this workshop.
For his part, the director of high competition, Mr. Abdel Ghader Dahi stressed that “strengthening the capacities of technicians is one of the main axes of the Ministry of Culture, Youth, Sports, and Relations with Parliament.” “Without capacity building, it is difficult to have efficient technicians.”
