The player was removed from the team until the organization investigates his actions.

The most recent controversy in Cibaeñas Eagles It comes from one of its main players in recent seasons. Jonathan Villarwith his experience in the Major Leagues and other winter circuits, appears this season as one of the most experienced men on the Santiago de los Caballeros team.

But with just five games played in the current season, the Eagles announce that they are separating the 32-year-old veteran from the roster due to a series of incidents earlier this week that will be under investigation.

With the Cibaeño team playing at home and down 8-1 on the scoreboard in a match against the Leones del Esgido, an apparently easy fly hit in the foul zone with an apparent apathy on the part of Villar who, although playing in the third base, was more charged towards the shortstop area.

The action (or lack thereof) caused manager Tony Peña to remove him from the game, which according to reports displeased Villar and he left the Cibao Stadium before finishing the match. A notice could even be seen on the player’s social networks that he had already “arrived home safely.”

Later in an Instagram Live session with journalist Yancen Pujols, Villar began to talk about lack of respect and actions that displeased him.

Villar went too far. By leaving the Stadium and making those types of statements. It is no secret to anyone that the Águilas Cibaeñas are going through one of their worst moments in recent seasons, which led to the dismissal of José Leger so that Tony Peña took his place.

Jonathan Villar will have his reasons for being dissatisfied with what happened. He is respected. But precisely he spoke about respect and lack of respect. Villar disrespected the Águilas as an institution, his teammates, their leader and the fans. Villar was wrong and he did so on more than one occasion.

He is already a player with a lot of experience and he should have known that his actions do not favor the team at all, especially in the current situation they are going through.

The important thing is that you can, despite everything, rectify it. Jonathan Villar can admit that he made one or more mistakes. Jonathan Villar can return to the Eagles and with his talent and leadership he can help change the direction they are taking this season. Villar can do that and much more.

Former player Miguel Tejada, another of the legends of the Cibaeño team, expressed on the Dominican radio program Diamante Deportivo that he spoke with Villar and that the player feels sorry. He also told ‘La Guagua’ that he will speak with manager Ángel Ovalles and leader Tony Peña.

Now it’s up to Jonathan Villar to take the step and try to turn the page. Recognizing mistakes is hard, and a lot. But Villar can remedy the situation and perhaps be the turning point at the beginning of the season for the Águilas to forget. He still has time.
