[성남신문=성남신문] The ‘2nd National Badminton Competition commemorating the registration of Museongseowon UNESCO World Heritage Site’ held at the Jeongeup City National Sports Center was successfully concluded over two days from the 11th to the 12th.
In this competition, over 1,000 badminton enthusiasts from 512 teams from all over the country participated and competed to the fullest with the skills they had accumulated over the years. In particular, 8 teams of former athletes participated and attracted the attention of visitors.
The competition was divided into a total of 68 events, including men’s doubles, women’s doubles, and mixed doubles, and both preliminary and final matches were operated with one set of 25 point rally points.
In addition, the teams were divided into groups from A grade to beginner grade so that those of the same grade could compete against each other according to their skills.
After a heated competition, Jinhee Park of the Doosan Club in Jeongeup City won the championship in two women’s doubles events and one mixed doubles event, earning her the honor of winning three gold medals. Jang Mi-rin, a member of the same club, also enjoyed the joy of winning two gold medals by taking first place in two women’s doubles events, thereby raising the status of Jeongeup.
Mayor Lee Hak-soo said, “I am deeply grateful to the athletes and officials who worked hard to host the competition,” and added, “I hope that this competition will be a good opportunity to promote Jeongeup to the whole country.”
