JCW Provides Shelter and Support to 30 Ukrainian Refugees in ‘Stronger Together’ Initiative

The JCW took in and looked after 30 Ukrainian refugees as part of “Stronger together”. Kyrylo Vertynskyi, a judo trainer from the destroyed city of Zaporizhzhia, had made a desperate call for help the previous year. Shortly afterwards, together with the city of Wiesbaden, the youth agency EVIM and the Johannesstift, the JCW organized the transport of the children and young people. Since then, the refugees have not only been training at the JCW, they have also received support with administrative procedures and German lessons. They want to “do the best possible to accompany children and young people step by step into German society,” said Eckelmann. After all, the war in Ukraine will not end any time soon.
