So now it’s out, the sentence that no one and yet somehow everyone was waiting for: “I doped.” The presenter Annika Zimmermann coaxed him out of Jan Ullrich. But what’s more accurate is that she received it from “Ulle” as the finale of the slow journey back into the public eye and towards the confession that goes with it. Hopefully that will be as liberating for Ullrich as he says. And of course this works brilliantly given the Amazon Prime documentary about him, which can be streamed from next Tuesday.
