James Harden Opens Up About Feeling Limited Offensively by Philadelphia 76ers

James Harden feels like the Philadelphia 76ers limited him offensively during his time alongside Joel Embiid.

James Harden sat in the press conference for the Los Angeles Clippers and casually spoke about his former team, the Philadelphia 76ers.

According to ESPN, Harden said he felt like he was “on a leash” and was forced to adjust his style of play.

The 76ers wanted to make him a player he wasn’t, Harden continued. Harden had the most assists in the league last season. Nevertheless, he was remarkably inconspicuous in the decisive games.

“I think I’m a creative player on the court,” Harden said. “If I have a thought and say, ‘Hey, coach, I see that. What do you think about that?’ Then it’s like, ‘Well, okay.’ Someone who trusts me, who believes in me, who understands me. I’m not a system player. I’m a system. You know what I mean?”

Embiid: Harden was allowed to do whatever he wanted

Sixers star Joel Embiid sees it a little differently:

“I think he did a lot of great things for us. But in my opinion, we gave him the ball every single possession because he’s really good. From then on, he had to make decisions about whether he was going to open up the guys or on himself himself looked.”

Embiid continued: “But I thought he did a pretty good job of getting us on offense and just passing the ball so guys were open. That’s why he won the assist title last year. ” Nevertheless, Embiid is happy that the situation has been resolved and they can now concentrate on basketball again.
