IPD Commits to Economic Incentive for Peruvian Athletes for Medal Wins

The president of the Peruvian Sports Institute (IPD), Guido Flores Marchan, ratified this Thursday the economic incentive that will be awarded to the winners of the 66 medals that were won in total at the Santiago 2023 Pan American and Parapan American Games, including 16 medals from gold, 15 silver and 35 bronze.

“As IPD we are very satisfied with the participation of the Peruvian delegation in Santiago 2023. We salute the efforts of the athletes and para-athletes to win the medals. That is why we ratify our commitment to the different disciplines and the economic incentive per medal obtained, which will be 80 thousand soles for the gold medal, 60 thousand for the silver medal and 30 thousand for the bronze medal.”said Flores Marchan.

Furthermore, he noted that: “The Peruvian State, through the IPD, allocated 4 million 970 thousand soles so that the prioritized athletes and para-athletes who were part of the Heading to Santiago 2023 Programhave an extra financial subsidy for their preparation and can arrive at the event in the best conditions.”

The medalists are members of the Athlete Support Program (PAD) and the IPD’s Heading to Santiago 2023 Program.

In the Pan American Games, 10 gold, 6 silver and 16 bronze medals were achieved, that is, a total of 32. The sport that gave us the most joy was athletics, with 7 records, including 3 gold.

While cycling, skateboarding, fencing, karate, taekwondo, weightlifting, badminton, canoeing, wrestling and judo won a medal.

In the case of our representatives in the Parapan American Gamesclosed their best participation in the history of the competition with 34 medals (6 gold, 9 silver and 19 bronze), surpassing even conventional athletes.

The discipline of para-badminton broke all expectations by winning 16 medals, including 4 gold. While para-athletics was also key and he stood on the podium five times, with three silver and two bronze.

Another parasport where history was made was Para archery, with first place by Daniela Campos, who with this result qualified for the 2024 Paralympic Games.

The participation of the sports shooting teams also stands out, paraswimming, boccia, parataekwondo and parapowerlifting.

The next objective of our athletes will be to prepare for the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, For which the IPD will create a support program that helps them arrive in the best conditions to the most important multi-sport event in the world.
