Insurers account for damages of 20 thousand million pesos in one month from Otis – El Sol de México

Almost a month after the impact of Hurricane Otis in Guerrero, insurers have recorded damages of 20,141 million pesos in damaged property of their clients in the state, mainly in Acapulco and Coyuca de Benítez.

The Mexican Association of Insurance Institutions (AMIS) reported this Thursday that 24 days after the storm, companies had a record of 16,128 reported claims, of which the majority, 56 percent, correspond to auto insurance policies and the rest to damage insurance.

In the hotel sector, AMIS said that at least 86 incidents were registered with hydrometeorological risk coverage, for which advance payments of some coverages for 806 million pesos have already been made.

The first estimates of the damage already assessed in these hotels, the agency added, are around three thousand 981 million pesos.

He added that the state government’s infrastructure had damages of around 950 million pesos, according to the first valuations.

Likewise, insurers have generated advances in valuations and advances on some 1,983 insured assets such as companies, shopping centers, restaurants and other economic activities, as well as 190 vessels.

AMIS stressed that the figure reported this Thursday will have adjustments based on some valuations that are still in progress.
