The turmoil at Voss-Tecklenburg never ends. The first punishment was imposed during the investigation against the husband of the recently fired national soccer coach. It was pronounced against Inka Grings, the ex-partner of Martina-Voss-Tecklenburg.

Former German national player Inka Grings, Switzerland’s national coach since January, is involved in the infidelity scandal surrounding the husband of former national coach Martina Voss-Tecklenburg. Johannes Hoppmann, spokesman for the Kleve public prosecutor’s office, has now confirmed this to the magazine “Bunte”.

The accusation against Hermann Tecklenburg, who is president and patron of SV Straelen (Oberliga Niederrhein), is: With him at the helm, the club is said to have funneled money past the social security fund and the professional association for five years (2015 to 2020). According to the “Rheinische Post”, a total of 513 cases involve almost 650,000 euros in social security contributions. According to the report, there are also more than 220,000 euros for the professional association. Total damage: 862,000 euros.

Grings’ role? Between 2019 and 2020 she coached the SV Straelen men’s team. According to the investigation, she is said to have earned twice the amount that was officially stated. According to “Bunte”, Grings apparently worked at a Tecklenburg company, where, according to the investigation, she was never seen. Neither Grings nor Tecklenburg wanted to comment when asked.

Prosecutor spokesman Hoppmann told the magazine: “The accused Inka Grings was suspected of aiding and abetting the withholding and embezzlement of wages. The damage amounts to 13,350 euros.” According to the justice spokesman, the 96-time international player agreed to pay a fine. In addition to the husband of the former national coach, four other people are accused.

Grings and Voss-Tecklenburg were a couple for six years

Grings and Martina Voss-Tecklenburg have known each other since their time at Straelen. The two were a couple for a total of six years, but the relationship ended shortly before the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney. Grings said about the relationship today: “We don’t have regular contact, but we are basically there for each other. I really appreciate her and I’m glad I have her in my life.”

Grings was one of the world’s outstanding strikers of her time. She scored 64 goals in 96 games. She played her last international match in October 2011

The DFB parted ways with Martina Voss-Tecklenburg at the beginning of November after a long and farcical hangout. The 55-year-old’s original contract ran until 2025 – and was only extended before the World Cup in the summer, from which the German women were surprisingly eliminated in the preliminary round.

The end of Voss-Tecklenburg had become apparent in the past few weeks – weeks in which the national coach was first on sick leave and then, during a vacation, at the “Forum Intelligent Building” in Bremen about “team building and coaching from the world of sports” and then spoke about “Change Management in Women’s Football” at the Bavarian Dentists’ Day in Munich.

Although this was approved by her employer, it was not well received as there had been no reappraisal of the sporting disaster since the World Cup – and no discussion with the players either. The DFB finally reacted to Martina Voss-Tecklenburg’s absence due to illness and on October 7th entrusted Horst Hrubesch with the management of the women’s national team as an interim solution.
