What role can football play in a society at war with more than 200 hostages missing? In Israel the football community sticks together, but in Europe it encounters resistance.
An hour before the game, the Israel Football Association released a photo from the dressing room. It showed three white and blue jerseys, one of which had the name Nave on it. There was a photo of a boy between the shoes and pants. Eight-year-old Nave, the association said, was kidnapped by Hamas on October 7th along with seven family members, and their house was burned down: “Today, Nave and all the other kidnapped people are with us every moment,” he wrote Association.
