Iga Świątek completely dominated the final of the WTA Finals against Jessica Pegula.

In the final of the WTA finals in Cancun, Mexico, Iga Swiatek from Polin not only had his sights set on winning the title, but also on avenging his last defeat against the American Jessica Pegula at the WTA 1000 tournament in Montreal.

In contrast to the past few days, the spectators were able to look forward to sunny weather in the final. After initially holding her serve, Swiatek got the first break with a clever backhand from her opponent and didn’t give up another game until the end of the first round. The 22-year-old secured victory in the first set with a serve winner.

In the second act, the tournament’s No. 2 also crushed her 29-year-old opponent with her powerful punches and completely dominated the game. Without allowing a game to be won in the set, the Warsaw woman won 6:1, 6:0 after just under an hour.

With her first triumph at the WTA final tournament, Swiatek moved past Belarus’ Aryna Sabalenka in the world rankings and thus ended the season in top position.
