Shakhtar Donetsk continues to fight for promotion to the round of 16 in the UEFA Champions League. The Ukrainians defeated Royal Antwerp 1-0 (1-0) in their “home game” in Hamburg on Tuesday and now have nine points in Group H – just like FC Barcelona and FC Porto, who are dueling in the evening. In Group E, Lazio Rome won at home against Celtic Glasgow 2-0 (0-0) with a brace from Ciro Immobile (82nd, 85th).
The Romans are now leading the table with ten points before the second group game between the Gernot Trauner Club Feyenoord Rotterdam and Atletico Madrid. With a win, the Spaniards can take back the top spot. Celtic are bottom of the group with just one point and are therefore eliminated. This also applies to pointless Antwerp, who had to admit defeat against Donetsk with a header from Mykola Matviyenko (12th). It was the Ukrainians’ third win in this CL group stage.
