Hoffenheim gets a lucky draw against Mainz

TSG 1899 Hoffenheim failed to return to winning ways. The sixth-placed team in the German Bundesliga drew 1-1 at home to 1. FSV Mainz 05 at the end of the twelfth round on Sunday and remained unsuccessful in their fourth competitive game.

In the end, they were lucky to win points, but Mainz weakened in the end, missed their second win of the season and are still in the relegation zone. Marco Richter (39′) put Mainz in front, Robert Skov (49′) equalized shortly after the break.

Mainz misses penalties and hits the crossbar twice

Mainz should have won after that, but they were also extremely unlucky. This wasn’t the case with Aymen Barkok’s penalty (68th), saved by Oliver Baumann, but it was simply a weak shot. The crossbar saved two free kicks from Richter (80th, 86th).

This gave Hoffenheim a 1-1 draw, like last time in Augsburg, and it was also the next point split for Mainz after the 0-0 draw in Darmstadt. Philipp Mwene played through for Mainz, who were without the injured Karim Onisiwo, while Florian Grillitsch was in action for Hoffenheim in the second half.

No goals at Heidenheim – Bochum

The meeting between 1. FC Heidenheim with substitute Nikola Dovedan (from the 66th minute) and VfL Bochum, where Kevin Stöger didn’t miss a minute, ended goallessly. Promoter Heidenheim is still one point ahead of draw specialists Bochum in 13th place in the table.
