Basketball world champion Daniel Theis beat the outstanding superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo in his first appearance of the season with the Indiana Pacers. The Pacers defeated the Milwaukee Bucks in the Eastern Conference with 126:124, the German national player contributed two points in eight minutes. Wagner brothers suffer defeats against Hawks
In the eighth game of the season, the 2021 NBA champions suffered their third defeat. The Bucks were still in the lead by ten points in the middle of the final period, but driven by US international Tyrese Haliburton, the Pacers managed to make a comeback. Haliburton hit a three-pointer with 89 seconds left to give the Pacers a 122-121 lead, then Antetokounmpo committed two momentous turnovers one after the other.
Despite personally strong performances with the Orlando Magic, the Wagner brothers Franz and Moritz suffered a bitter 119:120 defeat against the Atlanta Hawks. Franz Wagner had given Orlando a 119:117 lead in the final minute before Dejounte Murray countered again with a three-pointer 31 seconds before the end.
In total, the 22-year-old German international scored twelve points, six rebounds and three assists. Brother Moritz also impressed with 13 points and seven rebounds. After their second defeat in a row, the Magic have a balanced record after eight games of the season.
