Fürth extends with coach Zorniger – Sport

SpVgg Greuther Fürth wants to continue on the successful path with coach Alexander Zorniger in the long term. The Franconian second division football team has extended the contracts with 56-year-old head coach and assistant coach Jurek Rohrberg, 39, which expire at the end of the season, until June 2026. The fifth-placed team announced this on Monday. “We are very satisfied with the development we have made since Alex took office. I appreciate the collaboration with Alex, his drive and how he lives our club,” said sports director Rachid Azzouzi in the statement.

Zorniger took over the Fürth team after relegation from the Bundesliga 13 months ago when they were in last place in the second division. After the 2-0 home win on Sunday against newly promoted SV Wehen Wiesbaden, the cloverleaf is now in fifth place, just behind the promotion zone. The last four league games were all won. “I’m looking forward to more years at Kleeblatt because I have the feeling that something is being created here,” said Zorniger. He is “in the right place” in Fürth. Looking to the future, the former Bundesliga coach said: “With the youngest team in the league, we have embarked on a path that is far from over. I am convinced that we will still take big steps in development.”
