From Redemption to Controversy: Miles Bridges’ Seasonal Debut for the Charlotte Hornets

Saturday night Miles Bridgesafter missing the entire duration of last NBA season, did his thing seasonal debut wearing the Charlotte Hornets jersey. The American winger returned to the field for the match against the Milwaukee Bucks, coming off the bench and scoring 17 points. Upon his entrance onto the pitch (pointing to the sky with his fingers) the home crowd welcomed the player with a warm applause which inevitably causes reflection.

But let’s take a step back: the Miles Bridges case is one of the most controversial and shocking pages in the history of the League. The story begins in June 2022, when he is arrested for having repeatedly hit his wife in the presence of their children, who say they saw their father strangle their mother, causing fractures and a severe concussion. The American basketball player leaves prison on bail, agreeing to a plea deal worth it three years of probation and the ban of not being able to come within 100 meters of his wife’s residence for ten years.

In addition to the legal penalty, Bridges receives from the NBA a thirty-game suspension, twenty for the 22/23 season and ten for the current one. During the summer just ended, the Hornets they didn’t want to give up a talented player they invested in. So they decide to offer a new contract to Miles, who thus gains the much desired chance to save his career. The October 5 2023 towards the Buzz City player there are more two complaints: one for violating the restraining order against the wife’s home and the other for damaging the woman’s house and car by throwing pool balls (with the children inside the car, among other things). On October 13, 2023, an arrest warrant was issued against him. Bridges turned himself in and was released after posting a bail of just $1,000.
