Frenchwoman Stéphanie Frappart To Officiate First Munich Men’s CL Game

For the first time, a Munich men’s CL game will be officiated by a woman: Frenchwoman Stéphanie Frappart. This is the 39-year-old’s third appearance in the men’s Champions League. She celebrated her CL debut on December 2, 2020, when she was in charge of the sport in Juventus Turin’s 3-0 win against Dynamo Kiev. However, the woman from Le Plessis-Bouchard has not yet been involved with the men this season.

Nevertheless, she is no stranger to some Munich players. The referee was also nominated as a referee at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar and, among other things, officiated the German team’s game against Costa Rica.

Although the DFB team was able to win against Los Ticos 4-2, they still had to go home after the group phase of a World Cup for the second time in history.

And the Frenchwoman is not entirely unknown at FC Bayern either. She has already refereed two Champions League games for Bayern Women in her career. On November 17, 2016, the Munich team won 4-0 at WFC Rossiyanka under her leadership.

Almost three years later we met again. This time she refereed a home game for the Bayern women, which the hosts lost 0-1 against BK Häcken.

It remains to be hoped that the Munich men’s team doesn’t have to leave the field as losers in their first home game with Frappart.
