Le Portel and Saint-Quentin, two elite teams, qualified for the round of 16 of the French men’s basketball Cup. The same goes for Vichy and Pau-Lacq-Orthez, who play in Pro B.
Let’s go for the 16th finals of the French Men’s Basketball Cup, which started this Tuesday and will be held until… January 7. Resident of the elite, Le Portel was the first to win his ticket for the round of 16 (where the best teams will enter the competition), by upholding logic against a Pro B team, Fos-sur- Sea. The Northerners won 88-78, making the difference in the second quarter (25-15) and thanks in particular to 18 points and 5 assists from Edon Maxhuni (22pts for Damien Bouquet on the Provençal side). For St-Quentin, promoted to Betclic Elite, it was even easier against Nantes, a Pro B team, with a 92-49 success. The Picards won every quarter, scoring 20 or more points in each. With 22 points, MJ Walker delighted the Pierre-Ratte public, while no Nantes player reached 10 points.
Pau wins in Antibes
No problem either for Vichy against Lille in a 100% Pro B match. The leader of the second division beat the fourth with a score of 85-69, thanks in particular to a second half won 49-30. Ilias Kamardine scored 19 points for JAV and Marcus Santos Silva 16 points (and 15 rebounds) for the northern club. Finally, in a poster that smacked of the elite of the 1990s, but between two clubs today in Pro B, Pau-Lacq-Orthez won 84-85 in Antibes, thanks to a decisive shot from Kendall Anthony ten seconds from the end. His friend Gavin Kensmil finished with 21 points and 6 rebounds (26pts and 6rbds for Garlon Green on the Sharks side).
