Flavio Cobolli: Embracing His Own Path in Tennis

Flavio Cobolli arrives at the Next Gen ATP Finals 2023 after a great year of tennis. The Italian has several examples to follow on the circuit, such as Fabio Fognini or Jannik Sinner, although Flavio wants to have his own style and his own path.

“My biggest idol is Fabio, also Nole. I grew up with Fabio’s matches and tried to improve my tennis watching him, so I remember many of his matches. Normally I don’t like watching games, but I love theirs. When Fabio plays, I’m always with the television on. When he doesn’t play, no. We are great friends. If I have a problem, I always talk to him,” Flavio explains to the official ATP website.

“I also work with him because he has a management company, so he is also like my manager, his agency. If we are in the same tournament, we are always together, at dinner or at some training session. I encourage him in his games and he does the same with me.”

Looking forward to more in 2024

Flavio won his second Challenger title a few months ago in Lisbon, in addition to adding his first wins on the ATP circuit in Munich. “I want to create my own path, my own game. Of course, it was something very special. I have worked a lot this year. I have played a lot, 36 weeks, I was tired, but this trophy means a lot. I do not want to stop. “I want to go for more goals in 2024. I want to be in the future of tennis.”

Present in the last edition of the Next Gen ATP Finals as a substitute

“It was a great experience for me, one of the first times I was able to play against the best young players in the world like Alcaraz, Juan Manuel Cerúndolo and Hugo Gaston. I learned a lot from those trainings. That week did a lot for my tennis,” says the young Italian. Flavio begins his journey in the tournament in the best possible way, with a victory. Cobolli debuted with a victory against Dominic Stricker.
